Chapter Seven

~ Madison ~

Couple weeks later…

There were two things I now know to be true. Lady boners are definitely a thing, and Brandon only gets sexier by the day. I’m suffering at this very moment, thanks to him parading around the farm shirtless. Having the day off, he brought me here so I can see how the wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary is coming along. Not only is he attractive, but under the gruff demeanor he always presents there’s a heart of gold.

When Ariel told me, he’s a pain in the ass around the office, I came in to see it for myself. Sure, enough he sat in his office grumbling out orders and being all kinds of ornery. I sent Ariel on an early lunch, closing down the office since it wasn’t a busy day. We almost got caught mid-act when Ariel came back early, though. That didn’t stop him from being in a good mood the rest of the day. With a twinkle in her eye, she called me a miracle worker. I’m pretty sure she knew exactly what we’d been up to, but she’d never tell.

Since our first date, we’ve been inseparable. We can’t keep our hands off each other. The few hours we have to be apart when either one of us has to be somewhere is simply torture. It doesn’t hurt that the man is hellbent on knocking me up, judging by the amount of times he’s filled me up with him. The man is insatiable. I love it. I always wanted children and working at the clinic would be a family affair.

Returning my focus on my man, whose ass looks perfect in his jeans, I groan as he lifts another haybale into the truck. All his muscles contract from manual labor, driving me to lick my lips. His hard chest drips with sweat running down his six pack all the way to the V hidden in his jeans. I want nothing more than to drag my tongue down that path.

From the seat where he insisted I sit and just relax, I constrain my desire to mess with him. It wouldn’t take much to incite a reaction from him. All I have to do is bat my eyes or run my hand down his chest, and I’ll be taken up against a surface. Brandon might look and act like a civil man, but deep down he’s as primitive as they come where I’m concerned.

It was a shocker at first, since he’s nothing as he seemed. Even our first date had been better than I could have guessed. I figured he’d take me to some fancy restaurant where I couldn’t name half the things. Boy, was I wrong. He’d taken me to my favorite spot in town—that couldn’t be a coincidence. The man spoiled me rotten and was such a sweetheart with me.

Granted, I wasn’t fooled. There’s a ruthless side to him I only caught once by accident. He’d been on the phone barking orders at someone with his old company when I came into the clinic.
